HAND DRUMMING IN THE SCHOOLS:

In 2008, I founded the Hand Drumming in the Schools program. In early January 2008, I bought 15 drums and began teaching students across Toronto. Entirely done on a volunteer basis, I travel to public schools in the GTA and facilitates hand-drumming workshops for students of all ages.

BACKGROUND:

While in school, having regular access to music programs helped me recognize that music is my passion. In recent years, budget cuts in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) have left a huge need for more music education. Learning to play a musical instrument promotes creativity, self-discipline / strong work ethics, and respect in students. By providing high quality instruction by experienced, qualified, passionate instructors, I will be able to share music with students, and help them explore the wonderful opportunities music has to offer. My goals include spreading cultural awareness and making a positive impact in the community.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Build stronger communities by challenging students to maximize their full potential.
